Epoxy flooring is a resin system applied to a prepared substrate. Factories, warehouses, parking facilities and selected commercial areas use different systems according to loads, chemical exposure and cleaning requirements.
Selecting a system
Identify pedestrian, trolley or forklift traffic, oil and chemical exposure, cleaning frequency, moisture and temperature. No single system suits every condition. Define performance before choosing colour.
Preparing the concrete
Inspect the substrate, review moisture, remove contamination and weak layers, and repair suitable defects. Specify a compatible primer. Inadequate preparation can compromise adhesion and appearance.
Layers and markings
The scope may include primer, resin layers and a final finish. Pedestrian lanes, vehicle routes and operating zones can be incorporated. Select texture around cleaning and slip-resistance requirements rather than assuming the roughest finish is always best.
Handover and maintenance
Observe product curing times for pedestrian and equipment traffic under the actual conditions. Clean spills promptly and use compatible cleaners. Review chemical resistance for the particular substance, concentration and exposure; not every epoxy resists every chemical.
Frequently asked questions
Can epoxy be applied to an old floor? Assessment of the slab and existing layers is required. Will it hide cracks? Diagnose cracks first; ongoing movement can recur through a coating. What affects price? Area, preparation, repairs, thickness, system and site availability.
